Hello Kitty

Today's card is a proper girly card. See, I can do pink, it's just rare. lol.
The card is for our niece. She'll be 6, and Hello Kitty is her current favourite.
I've decoupaged the character and added a little age badge.
I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday, they had a choice of 2 this week. I've sort of combined the 2.

I'm entering it into the following challenges

Wow Oh wow. What wonderful news I woke up to this morning. Not only did we have a 2nd day of beautiful continuous sun, but I also won the draw over at I ♥ ProMarkers.
AWESOME! One very happy bunny. Can't wait to get some new digi's from the Stampfairy to colour in with my lovely ProMarkers. :)

Added delight then came with a featured spot @ Flutterby Wednesday
and a Top 3 spot at Inky Impressions
One Super happy bunny, and my boring old blog is getting some lovely badges to proudly display.

THANK YOU all. Hugs xox

Steampunk strikes again!

Steampunk strikes again!

This week I've been working on a card for my niece, which is very girly.
But all of the time I have still had all the other challenges buzzing around in my head.
This week steampunk has appeared on a few of the challenges, which really couldn't be much further away in style from my young niece's card.
Today I had the shock news of a birthday, (which I was adamant was in April) rear it's head. Arrrgh, I need to make a card tonight.
Right, I needed something quick. So I riffled through the sketch challenges, and found a nice easy, but effective sketch at INKY IMPRESSIONS.
So I combined this along with my steampunk bit's and bob's that have been hanging around from my last few cards.
Phew.....

Good Luck Guardian Angel

I've caught a lil bit of a challenge bug, but it's not half helping me get my cards done.
My Cards are becoming ongoing projects, an idea is spurred from a few challenges, and then as the week goes on, my card evolves as more challenges come up. I'm having a great time playing! lol.
March is a busy month for me on the card front, which also runs into a very busy April too.
On top of my usual load of cards I have 3 leaving cards to produce for work too, sadly for people I don't want to go.
This is the 1st of my leaving cards, not your usual leaving card admittedly
but it's personalised for one of the lads I work with.

I had some papers leftover from my mum's steampunk card, so I thought I'd use them up.
My colleague is into skulls, so I made some skull paper. Embossed some other paper with those Tim Holtz steampunk embossing folders that I purchased last week, and then distressed them with a sanding block.
I followed the sketch from sketch Saturday, turning it on it's side. I have to confess the sketch didn't really do anything for me to start off with, until I saw the lovely designs by the DT team, and inspiration was sparked!
I had some cardboard on my desk, from a delivery I'd had earlier, it almost went in the bin, but I started playing around with it having had the thoughts of a couple of challenges in my head of colouring on kraft & something recycled. I thought I'd grunge it up a little, added an inked border and cut down the edge with spellbinders edgeabilities classic scallop die. This time I've used 'Bodacious Bev' from Kenny K's. Coloured in tones of green to go with those papers.
I've given her some wings, so she's now a sexy vampish guardian angel to look over my colleague for what ever the future holds for him.

I'm entering the following challenges with this card

CES Challenges - Challenge # 77 - Kolouring on Kraft - Kraft layer coloured with distress ink, and border applied
Flutterby Wednesdays - Challenge 195 - anything goes as long as your creation has a butterfly, fairy or angel on it!!

Yipee, my Mother's Day Steampunk card made top 3 @ I love promarkers. That's made my day :)
And I eventually found out how to add a badge. Well Picture ones at least, not sure about anything more techno than that! lol

THANK YOU to all the lovely peeps that left lovely comments too. xox

Happy St Patrick's Day

Happy St Patrick's Day!

So my new embossing folders eventually turned up and my steampumk play session recommenced.
I opted for the Tim Holtz gears embossing folder, to compliment the die cut gears. I've attached a couple of the die cut gears with brads, as well as the hands on the clock so that they have movement in them.
I decided to colour Scarlet West with my pro markers to a green theme in keeping with St Patricks day, it also happens to be my mum's favourite colour too, so ideal for her Mothers Day card.
I found some lace amongst some old stuff and thought it would add a lovely frill to Scarlet's Skirt.
I decoupaged the image of Scarlet and added the lace. I'm quite pleased for how it turned out.
I thought the lace was lovely, so made a scrunched up border with it, and also added it to my Kraft heart embellishment.

My mum loves the raffle ticket embellishments at the mo, So I made her one with 'Happy Mother's Day & With Love' sentiments on.

I then grunged everything possible with Tim Holtz distress ink.

I'm all challenged out for this week, it's been fun, & got a few cards done.

My Brother's birthday

My brother's birthday. I always find it difficult to produce a card for him.
Male cards are always difficult, my brother though hates sports and doesn't drink so I can't fall back on the usual male themed cards of football, golf, drinking etc
Thanks to Kenny k images men's cards have been a lil easier!

I recently purchased 'Megan Foxy digi stamp' as I thought she'd be ideal for a few male cards I have to do.
The males in my family aren't really into sports but they've all tinkered with cars & bikes over the years.

Here's my 1st card using Megan. I'm entering it into the following challenges

My mum is a fan of steampunk. So I've been playing around with steampunk stuff, with the view to making her a mother's day steampunk card. My Mum is very difficult to make cards for because she is a crafter too. I always try and make her a card using new stash, so that I know it's something new to her too. I didn't really own anything that comes under steampunk. So I was delighted when I saw the 'Scarlett West' digi stamp over at www.kennykdownloads.com. I love the images on this site, along with www.pollycraft.co.uk these are the 2 sites that have just introduced me into the wonderful world of digi stamping. Scarlet West was downloaded & colouring commenced. This has now revived my old stash of Pro markers. I find it very therapeutic & I'm starting to learn how to actually use my pro markers. I was quite pleased with the finished coloured version, but then I didn't have anything else for it to go with. So I ordered the Tim Holtz steampunk embossing folders, sadly delivery has been rather sloooow. So I've been playing while I've been waiting. I made a backing sheet with some cogs on, which I was quite pleased with. I've then been playing with my other favourite things flowers and scrolls.
Here's my results of my play session! It's not going to be my final mother's day card, as I still want to have a play around with the embossing folders, so instead I shall use this for a birthday card.
I'm entering it in for the following challenges

CES ChallengesFLOWER FRENZY
Oldie but a Goodie Mums the word - Using my old stash of pro markers
PCJ Challenge 4 - Anything Goes
Divas by design challenge - Challenge 25 Favorite things- Favourite things Digi stamps, pro markers, flowers, scrolls

Simon says stamps challenge - Mother's day Special Girl
Make It Monday #79 - weekly linky party

I've been on holiday from work this week. I have a million in one things that I really should be doing, but I haven't done any of them. Instead I've been playing. I did assess this factor during the week, and decided that in light of other things going off in the real world, I needed a bit of me time. Some time to play, & go off to my happy place.
I had gone off card making for a while, but having seen the world of card based challenges it's woken up my inspiration again. March is a busy month for me on the card front, so boy did I need that awakening!

Friday 2 March 2012

My 2nd challenge. (Caught the challenge bug a lil!, lol.)
A Springy make for Kenny K's Krafty Girlz. Using Kenny K's showgirl stamp, and Traci Reeds 2 straws kit from sweet shoppe designs. I thought this kit matched the showgirl really well.
